This Friday night cocktail hour at the Henderson's, we are focused on Fall, or "Autumn" as I like to refer to it. Autumn is without a doubt our personal favorite season. Here in the Midwest, where we really do have 'seasons', you see a definite and dramatic change in the air. It's crisper, feels cleaner and hits your skin with a slight pinch that refreshes. It's always full of activities and new things starting, so why do we call it 'Fall'? That name denotes something drastic and unexpected, but the most wonderful thing about this time of year is that we are able to see it coming. Slowly the leaves change, the air fills with the smell of fireplace and all the premiers of our lives take place. The literal meaning of 'Autumn' is 'a time of maturity', so perhaps that's why it means so much to us right now. All of the effort we've put forth comes to maturity, and it's time to harvest the outcome. Maturity doesn't mean decline or fall. It makes one think of richness. A robust state where we have endless resource and boundless abilities. Autumn is something that we should float into, not fall into. So tonight, we are drinking something called "Sweet Autumn" as we toast to Autumn, and to all the ways we will each utilize the harvest of our maturity. Make it count, not just for now, but for~ ever. CHEERS FRIENDS!
