So I dug deep, took some time to really meditate early Tuesday morning, and I found myself recalling the words of one of my favorite teachers:
"Accept - then act.
Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it...This will miraculously transform your whole life."
~Eckhart Tolle
It is more than just body surfacing with the waves. It's world champion surfing. Making it look like you designed those waves and the direction they are turning. I think that's easier when dealing with more inanimate objects or obstacles, but what about when the present moment contains humans? Humans who are feeling anything but agreeable, or perhaps just as tired of the rain as you are?
Then it's time to point out the awesome that they are probably missing...
On my daily page this week I wrote, " When you see something beautiful in someone, tell them. It takes a minute but could last a lifetime." This thought made me think of something my dear sister cousin Marlene shared with me that I am confident she had no idea impacted me the way it did. She told me that she carried sprinkles in her purse, and she had a massive stockpile of them in her pantry.
She found that nearly everything could be made better, more exciting and more fun by adding sprinkles. I realized that people have their own unique sprinkles, and sometimes, we just need to point them out. They may have forgotten them, or they just might need to let more of them come to the surface. You are just helping to add some sprinkles.
It's very easy to focus on the dreary and sink into the grey waters, allowing them to just take you wherever they go. That's not the acceptance Tolle was speaking of. No, what he was referencing was the very act of saying, "I'm going to make this situation mine and work to bring about the very best outcome." Taking the grey and adding some sprinkles.
Then watch things change direction and get brighter.
So tonight, we'll be toasting with a simple cocktail made a little better with sprinkles. I call it "Game Changer." I hope you will take a moment this weekend to become the Conductor of your life and decide to be in charge of the obstacles you might be facing. Look around. You are probably surrounded by Sprinkle filled people who can help you if they are reminded of their brightness. Cheers friends!
