Tonight, we recommence the Friday Night Thought Tale Hour at the Henderson's with a very special toast to my dear sister and friend, Ava Tomson. Ava has worked at the same place in the same department for 15 years, and she was pretty damn good at her job. Over the past year, she has begun to feel a ‘pull,' telling her that perhaps it might be time to make a change. The pull was followed by some tugs, brought to her by medical alerts, and that brought her to a place of plant more trees or cut wood. She decided for the later and put in her letter of resignation two weeks ago. Today was her last day to work at the building that had become a second home. This job was a place where she made dear friends, incredible memories, and gathered priceless experience. It was a rough day – the essence of bittersweet. And yet, Ava will sleep well tonight because she will have as her pillow a piece of insight that only comes with experiencing tremendous loss: Life is too short to be anything but happy. So tonight, we toast to that truth, and the careful wisdom it takes to make the sometimes hard decisions that lead us to leave comfort and security behind. Here’s to finding happiness in the great unknown, armed with the lifeboat of experience!Welcome to my weekly 'Thought Tale' hour. This is my place to stop and muse about my perspective on the things that catch my eye. Sometimes they will bring a tear, and other times a smile, but I hope they always give you a few moments to stop at the end of your busy week and find your joyous perspective on life.
